As part of one of the most popular shows on
television, the cast of “Downton Abbey” has
become accustomed to all kinds of attention.
Michelle Dockery , Lily James, Laura Carmichael,
and Elizabeth McGovern are all featured in a
glamorous photo spread for Harper's Bazaar UK
including ensembles from Chanel, Valentino,
Calvin Klein, Jimmy Choo, Carolina Herrera and
Burberry.
One of the reasons they love their job so much,
according to Dockery, is the writing. “Julian
[Fellowes] writes so well for women. He’s got a
very good way with families. We’re all very lucky
that we’re playing roles that are very complex,
not just two-dimensional and predictable.”
And Ms. McGovern also enjoys the age diversity
of the cast- "Women in their 40s and 50s are
very under-represented by all aspects of the
media. There are not many stories out there, and
that’s where 'Downton Abbey' is so nice. Maybe
that’s partly why people have embraced it as
much as they have."
