US teen may be forced to show police his erection in sexting case

A Virginia teenager accused of ‘sexting’ a video
to his girlfriend is facing a search warrant in
which prosecutors want to take a photo of his
erect penis.

According to the teen’s lawyers, Manassas City
police and Prince William County prosecutors
want to take the 17-year-old to hospital for an
injection that would force him to become erect, in
order to compare photos with images in the
video.
The case has angered the boy’s family as well as
outside legal observers, who say the time and
resources invested in private messages between
teenagers is excessive.
The teen faces two charges for possession of
child pornography and manufacturing child
pornography after sending ‘pornographic’ videos
to his 15-year-old girlfriend despite being asked
‘repeatedly’ to stop.
The teenager’s defence attorney slammed the
warrant.
‘The prosecutor’s job is to seek justice,’ Jessica
Harbeson Foster told The Washington Post.
‘Taking him down to the hospital so he can get
an erection in front of all those cops, that’s
traumatizing.’
Advocates at the National Center for Missing and
Exploited Children warned of the dangers not only
of sexting, but also of overreacting to sexting.
‘Charging a teenager like this, there can be a
lifetime of repercussions,’ said John Shehan.
‘We don’t necessarily think that’s the best way to
go in the more-minor situations.’

Man Proposes To Woman He Met On Facebook With Zuckerberg In Attendance

It All Started With A Poke: Man Proposes To
Woman He Met On Facebook With Zuckerberg In
Attendance
A COUPLE WHO met on Facebook have become
engaged after a surprise proposal at the
company’s headquarters in California.
Steven Kawalit from Ontario, Canada met fiancée
Nafis Joon when he ‘poked’ her after she
appeared on his Facebook timeline back in 2007.
The pair kept talking and started going out after
Joon agreed to a date.
Kawalit decided to keep the spontaneous
Facebook theme in their relationship by proposing
in Facebook’s headquarters in Menlo Park,
California, telling his now-fiancée that he had
won a competition for a free tour.
While the two were posing for a photo in Hacker
Square, a Facebook employee asked them to turn
around, revealing the words ‘Nafis, will you marry
me?’ on the big screen.
Surrounded by CEO Mark Zuckerberg and COO
Sheryl Sandberg, he got down on one knee.

When people ask us how we met, we say
‘mutual friends’. And today you meet your
mutual friends. Nafis, I love you very much.
You’re my best friend. Will you marry me?

She said yes. STATUS UPDATE.

Meet Ida the Angora rabbit – she might be the cutest thing ever

Ida the English Angora rabbit is pretty much the
cutest thing we’ve ever seen. Well, her and her
mounds and mounds of candy floss-like fur.
Ida is part of a collection of Angora rabbits who
belong to Betty Chu, a retired professor at San
Jose State University – she tours around the
country with the bundles of fluff for shows as part
of the Northern California Angora Guild. Amazing.
These amazing bunnies can grow up to 10 inches
of fur, which is significantly more than the one
inch on your standard pet rabbit at home.
Angora Rabbits originate from Turkey and were
popular pets for royalty in eighteenth century
France
Betty prepares her prize bunnies for show with a
special pampering process that includes blow-
drying the fur for volume.
As the rabbits grow an inch of hair a month, Betty
regularly sheers them, using the excess wool to
make scarfs, hats and gloves that she then sells
on etsy .
We’re sold. How do we get our hands on one of
these beauties?

Man bit girlfriend’s ear during England vs Italy drink binge

A man launched a brutal attack on his girlfriend
after watching England lose to Italy in the World
Cup, fracturing her jaw and biting off part of her
ear.
David Barr, 38, strangled partner Gemma Dykins
at their home in Mold after a marathon drinking
session that culminated with watching England’s
first World Cup match.
Mold Crown Court heard how Barr angrily
snatched his girlfriend’s phone from her during a
call to look at the screen, before following her to
the kitchen where he punched her in the face,
causing her to bang her head on the floor and
lose consciousness.
Ms Dykins suffered a fractured jaw and had some
of her ear bitten off

Prosecutor Matthew Ellis then described how
Barr, a business development manager, punched
her again before kneeling down and biting off a
chunk of her ear. He then started to strangle her.
The couple told medical staff the next morning
that she had fallen over a dog when they went to
get treatment, but a concerned friend contacted
officers when they noticed the extent of the
damage.
Barr told police it was an ‘accident’ but later said
he believed that she had been texting another
man and was suspicious that she was doing it
again.
He denied strangling her or intending to take her
life.
Barr was bailed and will be sentenced next
month.

Woman receives selfie from the ghost of her grandmother

Mrs Mihai believes she was contacted from the
‘other side’

A Romanian woman has claimed her dead
grandmother has contacted her from beyond the
grave – by sending her a selfie.

Gina Mihai, 34, said she found a picture of her
deceased grandmother on her phone and believes
her spirit is reaching out for help after a fortune
teller said her grandmother was being punished
‘in the other life’.
Churches in Scurtesti in the south-eastern part of
the country have been packed with locals praying
on Mrs Mihai’s behalf.
‘When I switched the phone on I was horrified to
see my dead grandmother’s face,’ she said.

‘She had what looked like a snake around her
neck, and the whole image looked as if it had
been taken through a hole, like it was shot
through a tear in the fabric that separates the
living from the dead.
She continued: ‘I took it to a fortune teller who
told me that my grandmother was sending me a
message from the other side, the snake around
her neck was a symbol of the fact that she was
being punished in the other life for some sin.
Mrs Mihai believes that she may be partly to
blame for her grandmother’s punishment by not
taking food to her grave – a traditional tribute
paid during the Romanian feast of the service of
alms.

The chilling note includes memos like ‘take his

It was posted by Reddit user lala989 who

Sex in public couple caught having raunchy encounter on historic fountain

The pair were undeterred by passers by as they
got frisky in broad daylight

Wanted: Police are hunting the pair who walked
away laughing after their steamy rendezvous
Police are trying to track down a couple caught
having sex on a public fountain in broad daylight.
Undeterred by passers by, the brazen duo got
frisky on top of a historic fountain in the middle of
a public square in the Russian city of Samara.
The pair's raunchy encounter, which goes on for
about 15 minutes, was filmed by 26-year-old
Aleksey Douhov.
The video, which has become one of the most
watched on Russian social media, shows a
woman sitting astride a man, who is lying on the
fountain wall, as people walk past.

No shame: Police are now trying to trace the pair
after local politicians expressed outrage
At the end of the clip, the woman climbs off the
man, they get dressed and then both walk off
laughing.
After the footage went viral, angry local MPs
alerted police, who are now trying to track down
the pair.
The public romp is the latest in a string of
'sexcapades' which have taken place across
Europe recently.
Earlier this month a pair were pictured having an
underground station in Vienna
.
An amorous duo were also snapped having sex
next to a cash machine in the foyer of a bank, in
Oviedo, in northern Spain

Man who took vow of poverty wins $260m lottery... then says he'll give most of it away

Roy Cockrum, 58, from Nashville, Tennessee,
won the cash on the Powerball lottery in the U.S.
- the states biggest ever win
A man who took a vow of poverty has won $
259.9million (£151million) on a lottery... and
vowed to give most of it away.
Roy Cockrum, 58, from Nashville, Tennessee, won
the cash on the Powerball lottery in the U.S. - the
states biggest ever win.
He will take a lump payment of $153.5 million
rather than a series of payments, but wants to
use the money to help performing arts groups
across the U.S.
He took a religious vow of poverty several years
ago, according to abcnews, but how much he will
keep for himself is unknown.
He said: "It's going to be my job to work very
hard to make sure that every single penny of this
prize is a blessing to whoever it touches."
He added: "I really believe the best way to
prepare for this tsunami of cash has been to live
under a vow of poverty for a number of years,"
Cockrum said. "It gives great perspective."
He took his oath with the Episcopal religious
community of the Society of St John the
Evangelist in Cambridge Massachusetts, taking a
vow of poverty, celibacy and obedience.
Before his huge win, he spetn 20 years as an
actor and stage manager on TV and in theatres.
Cockrum said in the statement that when he
realized he had won the jackpot, it "literally
knocked me to my knees."
After that, he said a little prayer, picked himself
up, put the winning ticket in his wallet and went
to pick up his mother.

I’m A Buddhist, I Am Not A Church Goer – Charly Boy

Charly Boy, recently buried his father, Late Justice
Chukwudifu Oputa, and it was not without
controversy. He raised eyebrows when he
appeared at his father’s funeral service, seated
and flanked by two strange looking ladies. He
also reportedly had a face-off with Imo State
Governor, Gov. Rochas Okorocha. Read excerpts
from this interview he had with Vanguard :

You gave your father a befitting burial. How did
it go?
Everything went fine. We give God the glory.
I feel a sense of relief now. Relief, because
the troubles associated with burial
arrangements have been over. The stress
has reduced.
I quit smoking for over five years now, but I
started smoking again about three weeks
ago because I was running mental, preparing
for my father’s rites of passage.
I have had this discussion with him almost a
year ago when I asked him how he would
want to be buried and what would be his
expectations. He replied saying that ‘ I know
that no matter what I tell you now, it would
end up being the Charly Boy show. Even at
that, I would be happy but all I would say is
this: don’t spend too much money.’
This is because he was a simple man
nature. My father was always worried
concerning how I do things because I have
never done things in small measure. I thank
God for his mercies that I was ready for this,
mentally and spiritually. Though I would
have wished that God had given us more
time, but that is the reality of life. I am
happy that I am able to give my father a
befitting burial.

Were you happy with the way the burial was
organised?
Nothing good comes easily. I delegated
duties and that was what helped me. But to
a large extent, as an event organiser, I would
give myself a pass mark.

Were you satisfied with the level of state and
federal governments’ participation in the burial?
I set out to bury my father without expecting
anything from anybody. That was why I had
kept saying, after my father’s death, that we
are going to be responsible for his burial
rites. We fixed the date by ourselves and I
wasn’t relying on anybody for anything. But
if anybody wants to be part of the burial
arrangement ,there’s no problem.

But it made headlines last Saturday that you
snatched the microphone from Owelle Rochas
Okorocha, Governor of Imo State, at the funeral
service. What informed your action?

I didn’t embarrass him. You can believe
anything you read from the dailies. But I
can’t go out of my way to embarrass
anybody. I only insisted that I wouldn’t
tolerate people with bad political breath to
preside over my father’s burial rites. The
corpse belonged to the Oputa family, and not
the state or federal government.
Being Charly Boy, my action creates a lot of
controversies. I am not a politician and I can
never be one.
I don’t do things the way every other person
would want to do them. My own things are
bound to be a little different. Integrity is my
watchword and when I give you my word,
you can go to sleep. I expect same from
people who deal with me. I didn’t
understand why somebody would graciously
choose to assist us by making a donation to
the family and thereafter, they went on air to
announce it. That was not a gentleman
action and it was what really angered me.
Secondly, three days after my father’s death,
I sounded a note of warning that it won’t
turn to a political thing. You know the kind
of father I had, and what he stood for. I
don’t want them to politicise his burial rites.
After they made the donation, and I never
denied that they didn’t give us money. But I
was embarrassed that they were announcing
it over the radio and in the pages of
newspapers.
If you are doing something with the family,
first of all, we are the chief mourner, as well
as Governor Rochas Okorocha, but it would
be proper that they confide in the family in
whatever they were planning to do in respect
of the burial rites. If there is something we
can bring to the table to enhance it, then it
would be to the credit of the governor. But
he didn’t do that and they were all shifty.
We didn’t know what they were planning,
they didn’t care to know what we were
planning.

What Was it what informed your action at the funeral
service?

First of all, I am not a church goer. I am a
Buddhist, though I was born into the
Catholic doctrine. And part of my reason for
not going to church is the fact that I have
been to a lot of churches. For the first 20
years of my life, I was a mass servant. I was
an ‘altar boy’ because my father was a
disciplinarian. If you don’t go to morning
mass, you are bound to be in trouble.
I did all that for 20 years, and that’s the
kind of background I was coming from. But
things have changed regarding the mode of
worship in most churches. They spend more
time than necessary. Why should we be
praying for two to three hours non-stop? I
have other things to do. At the funeral
service, I was told that Mr. President’s
representatives and other dignitaries have
arrived my home town.
Unfortunately, one of my legs was paining
me, and that was why, if you were in church
that day, I was sitting down throughout.
People didn’t understand why I was sitting
down. I couldn’t stand up for too long. Now,
we have spent about two to three hours in
the church. We couldn’t afford to give all the
politicians that attended the funeral rites the
opportunity to pay tribute to my late father. I
felt the only person who should deliver a
speech was Mr. President’s representative.
At that point, I was so stressed and tired. All
I wanted was to commit my father’s remains
into the mother earth. So, I insisted, as the
eldest son of Justice Oputa, I decide how
things were going to be done. At that point,
I said please, no more talk, it’s too much, let
one person speak so we can go and finish
the business. That was what happened but
you know people will misinterpret it. That is
their business, not mine.

See Photos Of 2 Gay Dads Meeting Their New Born For The First Time

The photo says it all! This is the emotional
moment two dads met their son for the first time.
Toronto gay couple, Frankie Nelson and BJ
Barone, embraced their new born, Milo, who was
born on at 4:15 p.m. on June 27 — right in the
middle of Toronto’s WorldPride week, which took
place from June 20 to 29. Milo weighed in at 9
pounds and 7 ounces and was born from an
unrelated surrogate.
According to Lindsay Foster, the photographer
who captured the moment, the two men felt all
the emotions that every new parent feels. Lindsay
Foster is friends with the surrogate mother, and
volunteered to photograph the birth for free. She
said she was excited to discover that the
surrogacy was for two gay fathers. Hear her:
“I had the opportunity to photograph this
amazing birth on June 27 for a surrogate
and two expecting and anxious daddies.
Hours were spent with them in the hospital
room while the surrogate mom was laboring
and I got to know them quite well. They are
two compassionate people who felt all the
emotions that every new parent feels. They
asked all appropriate questions of the
birthing mom and the midwife and educated
themselves as best as they could for their
son’s arrival. I am so proud of these two
dads.”
The photos have gone viral, and as expected, they
generated a lot of comments, both positive an
negative. The new fathers, Mr Barone and Mr
Nelson, had this to say:
“Thank you to everyone out there who has
taken the time to like, comment and share
our picture! This was truly an incredible
moment in our lives that will be captured
forever by the lovely Lindsay Foster
Photography. We are so lucky that we have
a beautiful, healthy baby boy! All comments
posted are respected, although we may not
agree with the negative ones, the positive
ones far outweigh the negative. Everyone is
entitled to their own opinion. This is a
moment of pure love and acceptance. Milo is
surrounded by unconditional love and he will
grow up knowing many different types of
families and accept everyone, (intolerant
people included). Milo was born during World
Pride. This picture represents everything
Pride is about. Love has no colour nor
gender nor sexual preference. Love is
unconditional. Thank you again from the
bottom of our hearts!

Nigeria "Half of a Yellow Sun" has been finally
approved by the Nigerian Film and Video Censors
Board (NFVCB).

According to Premium Times, it was made known
on Friday. The movie, which had been previously
banned over partially taking place during the
Biafran War, will be allowed to watch only by
those 18 of age.
This movie, along with more than 70 other

Middle-aged man gets bizarre haircut to try and woo woman 31 years younger than him

Wu Lei, 54, wanted to try and look like someone
in their 20s or 30s to try and gain the affections
of a 23-year-old woman
A middle-aged man made waves when he styled
his hair into a perfectly right-angled flat top to
make himself look younger - but instead and
ended up looking like a plastic Lego toy.
When Wu Lei, 54, from Taiwan, was quizzed
about the hairdo by a Chinese reporter, he said he
had wanted to impress a 23-year-old woman who
he had tried to chat up but who had rejected his
advances.
But the young woman said the hairdo had made
her even more unlikely to respect him as he
looked like a Lego figure or character from the
video game "Warcraft".
She said: "My friends call him blockhead, I can
imagine he might have found someone as he had
a good and respectable job as a medical
laboratory scientist at the National Taiwan
University Hospital. But he should act his age."

Wu, who is still single despite the expensive
hairdo, said: "I can't understand it. I make an
attractive monthly income of 70,000 Taiwanese
Dollars (£1,400).
"I adopted this hairstyle because I wanted to look
like a guy in his 20s or 30s to attract the girl who
rejected me. Or in fact any girl."
Styling his hair was not an easy task. He
reportedly needs to use up two cans of gel and
spends two hours doing his hair. He can also
only comb it once every 15 days to get rid of
dead hair.
But the hairdo and the media coverage has made
Wu a hit on the streets, with people pointing out
Blockhead to their kids and taking snaps of him.
The famous local comic artist Cherng Li even
featured Wu in one of his stories after seeing him
on the metro, saying "I could not get his figure
out of my mind, so I had to put it onto paper."

Man has his 10-inch penis enlarged because he wanted 'a monster'

Having a 10-inch penis would probably be
enough for most men.
That is unless you want a 'monster'.
Meet Billy-Tom O'Conner, who admitted he has
been involved in making porn in the past and was
naturally well-endowed but wanted more.
He told Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on
This Morning three times that he wanted to get
his 10-inch to 'monster' sizes.
However, he knows that there are women out
there who aren't all that keen on such a large
appendage.
He said: "On two occasions I have got to the
point where they've seen it and they've refused
me... they just point plank say they're not willing
to go any further with that. But most girls
absolutely loved it."
While on This Morning, Billy-Tom's penis was
displayed for the world to see in a set of before
and after pictures (which we won't be publishing)
.
Phillip Schofield gave plenty of warning before the
images were flashed up on screen showing that
the enlargement had involved making Billy-Tom's
penis fatter, rather than longer.
Schofield also gave a demonstration of what
Billy-Tom's manhood would look like when erect.
Although for this he tactfully used a can of
hairspray for illustrative purposes.

Baby-faced killers jailed for murder after stabbing teenage rival in launderette back room

Corey Hewitt, 13 Joseph McGill, 13, Keyfer
Dykstra, 14 and Andrew Hewitt, 14, and Reese
O'Shaughnessy, 19, carried out the revenge
murder of Sean McHugh, 19
CCTV footage from night of Sean M
This is the moment a baby-faced gang chased a
teenage rival into a launderette before they
stabbed him to death.
Today the gang - four aged just 13 and 14 - were
jailed for 54 years for the revenge murder of Sean
McHugh, 19.
A judge lifted a restriction allowing Corey Hewitt,
13 Joseph McGill, 13, Keyfer Dykstra, 14 and
Andrew Hewitt, 14, and Reese O'Shaughnessy, 19,
to be named.
Victim Mr McHugh was cornered in a back room
of the launderette as his attackers tried to crash
down a door while he desperately tried to escape.
The baying gang armed themselves with knives, a
broom handle and the walking cane sword, an
antique-type martial arts weapon, which can
today be pictured for the first time.
And the mob even used washing detergent,
pouring it under the door to make Mr McHugh
slip, and become 'easy prey.'
The attack in Anfield, Liverpool, last September,
was a revenge assault after Dykstra was stabbed
by an unknown assailant thought to be from a
rival gang weeks earlier.
Vicious O'Shaughnessy must serve a minimum of
18 years and Dykstra who charged at McHugh
armed with a knife, was jailed for a minimum of
12 years.

He had posted a cruel taunt on Facebook saying,
'RIP Shorty - we always knew ye was a p****'
after McHugh died from his injuries four days
after being stabbed.
Joseph Magill, 13 when he took part in the
murder, wailed in the dock as he was sentenced
to a minimum of nine years.
Corey Hewitt, 14, who was also just 13 when the
crime was committed, was jailed for a minimum
of six years and Andrew Hewitt, 15, was jailed for
a minimum of nine years.
Recorder of Liverpool Clement Goldstone QC
called the murder of Sean McHugh 'truly wicked'.
He also told the gang: "Your fascination with
knives is part of your way of life."
Mother Lorraine McHugh, 55, and his heartbroken
girlfriend, Stephanie Crawford, said: "The night
they killed my son, they might as well have killed
me too.
"I rarely go out without ending up in floods of
tears. Me and his dad never thought we would be
burying one of our sons.
"All we have is memories, I can't sleep, I can't
face going back to work, I can't go to the shops
without breaking down.
"I hope the defendants realise what they've done
and get what they deserve."
She also blasted her son's killers for 'laughing
and smirking' during the trial and said they had
'no respect'.
The court heard O'Shaughnessy has an IQ of an
11-year-old boy and poor social skills while
McGill's intelligence level was in the bottom four
per cent for his age.
The knife blow severed the femeral artery and
four days later, Mr McHugh died from his injuries
in hospital.
After the fatal attack, one of the boys asked on
Facebook: "That kid dead haha?"
Recorder Goldstone QC added: "This attack
started as a marauding mob chasing two others
through the street.
"Members of the public saw some of what
happened and were horrified and shocked by it.
"They were from Walton and were to a greater or
lesser extent affiliated to the Walton Village gang
who were sworn enemies of the Laneheads gang
of which you were all enthusiastic card carrying
and fully paid senior and junior members.
"They were on what you perceived to be your
territory.
"Had you shown true and early remorse the
anguish now felt by his mother, brother and
girlfriend might have been slightly lessened.
"The real life sentence is that which you have
imposed on Sean McHugh's family for which
Christmas or birthdays will never be the same
again."

Mum-of-six with giant LLL breasts has 36th cosmetic surgery operation to look like 'adult Barbie'

Lacey Wildd, whose motto is 'plastic makes
perfect', had fat removed from her tummy and
legs before some of it was pumped back into her
bum
A mum-of-six with size LLL breasts has had her
36th plastic surgery operation to reach her life
ambition of becoming an adult Barbie doll.
Lacey Wildd, a reality TV star from Florida whose
motto is 'plastic makes perfect', has already
undergone 12 breast augmentation surgeries - but
this time she wanted a bigger bum.
The 46-year-old, who also works as an actress,
had fat taken from her tummy, her back, arms
and legs before having some of it pumped back
into her booty.
Before the surgery in Fort Lauderdale, she said: "I
want to be an adult Barbie, like the extreme
Barbie, I'm known as one of the most extreme
plastic surgery patients in the world and I want to
keep pushing the limits."
Her nose was also reshaped and fatty skin was
removed from her eyes - the operation was so
serious that she left the operating room in a
wheelchair wearing a full body girdle
.
She confessed afterwards: "I was very worried
about the results.
"I've never had face work before. But I'm very
pleased with the results."
Previously Lacey said she plans to become one of
the top six big breasted women, and would love
to have the world's biggest boobs one day.
This was all in the name of earning money to
support her family.
Lacey added: "Yes, I plan on getting more face
work done... and I still want bigger boobs and a
bigger butt! I don't think I'll ever be finished.
Plastic makes perfect!"
She looks perfect for a mum of six..right?

“Downton Abbey” Dames Cover Harper’s Bazaar UK

As part of one of the most popular shows on
television, the cast of “Downton Abbey” has
become accustomed to all kinds of attention.
Michelle Dockery , Lily James, Laura Carmichael,
and Elizabeth McGovern are all featured in a
glamorous photo spread for Harper's Bazaar UK
including ensembles from Chanel, Valentino,
Calvin Klein, Jimmy Choo, Carolina Herrera and
Burberry.
One of the reasons they love their job so much,
according to Dockery, is the writing. “Julian
[Fellowes] writes so well for women. He’s got a
very good way with families. We’re all very lucky
that we’re playing roles that are very complex,
not just two-dimensional and predictable.”
And Ms. McGovern also enjoys the age diversity
of the cast- "Women in their 40s and 50s are
very under-represented by all aspects of the
media. There are not many stories out there, and
that’s where 'Downton Abbey' is so nice. Maybe
that’s partly why people have embraced it as
much as they have."

Law could be changed to stop 'revenge pornography', says minister

Chris Grayling, the Justice Secretary, says that
ministers will look to change the law to stop the
spread of 'revenge pornography', where men put
online explicit pictures of their former partners
The law could be changed to protect women from
ex-partners who put explicit “revenge
pornography” pictures of them on the internet, a
minister has said.
Chris Grayling, the Justice Secretary, said that
that there will be a “serious discussion” in
Government about the practice, which experts
have warned in becoming increasingly common in
the UK.
Mr Grayling warned that jilted former boyfriends
and husbands are increasingly posting humiliating
pictures of their ex-partners on websites.
Maria Miller, the former Cabinet minister, has
called for a change in the law to tackle the
"appalling" practice.
Victims often find that the images are impossible
to remove once they are posted online as they
are reproduced on a host of other sites within
minutes.

Pupil feared drowned in Lagos drainage, sibling hospitalised

A nine-year-old Primary three pupil, Gbenga
Oladejo, and his sister, Tolani, were swept inside
a drainage channel on Tuesday on Agege Motor
Road, Mushin, Lagos.
While Gbenga drowned and his body had yet to be
recovered, 10-year-old Tolani held to an iron
inside the channel and was rescued by residents.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the victims were pupils
of Myyoung Barracks Primary School in the
Fadeyi, Yaba area of Lagos and were heading for
school when the incident happened.
An eyewitness, Bayo Olowa, said the incident
happened around 9am.
He said, “When the rain started, we were all
seated here. It had gone down a little when we
saw a kid slip into the drainage channel. His
sister wanted to save him, but fell headlong into
it as well.
“We quickly ran to the other end of the drainage
channel and tried pulling the legs of one of them,
but the water was too forceful.
“We however saw the elder sister holding on to an
iron inside the drainage. One of us pulled her
out.”
Our correspondent was taken to a private hospital
in the area where Tolani was receiving treatment.
A doctor in the hospital, who did not identify
herself, told our correspondent that she was in
stable condition and was asleep.
When our correspondent approached her bed, she
slightly opened her eyes.
Asked what she could remember last before she
was taken to the hospital, Tolani said, “I and my
brother were going to school this morning when
we fell into the drainage channel. I don’t know
where Gbenga is. I feel pains in different parts of
my head now.”
PUNCH Metro visited the mother of the victim in
her house on Akobi Crescent, in front of Birch
Freeman School in Surulere.
Bose, a hairdresser and Ibadan, Oyo State
indigene, said she was devastated by the loss of
her child.
While fighting back tears, she said, “It was
around 8.45am, after the rain had subsided, that I
told them to go to school.
“Ten minutes later, I decided to also go out. I
saw a crowd of people saying two kids fell into
the drainage. I didn’t care much and passed by
them.
“It was later that I learnt that the victims were
my children.”
The Social Secretary of Kubada Community
Development Association, Odi Olowo Council,
Adeshina Adigun said, “The flood water that
forms on this road can be heavy most times and
the channel is too small. Rain waters from the
Railway Line, Kubiyi and Bada areas flow to this
junction and flood the streets.
“Two years ago, I was involved in a weeklong
search for a man’s son that was carried away by
flood water. Up till now, we have not seen the
boy’s corpse and that is why I doubt if we can
ever see this one too.”
A resident, Jamiu Keru, suggested that an iron
wall be constructed around the drainage channel
so that in the event of another mishap, it would
be easier for victims to be rescued.
Our correspondent called the Lagos State Police
Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, but she was
not reachable.

Weird tech: headphones designed for watching porn

Consumer technology and porn go together like
cheap wine and regrettable one-night stands.
Whether you like it or loathe it, porn is a major
constituent of the world economy, generating
huge revenue and employment. What's more,
when it comes to technology, pornographers have
always been early adopters. Since the birth of
photography, they have been among the earliest
to identify and cash-in on the latest innovations.
You can thank pornographers and their patrons
for pushing through VHS, webcasting, camcorders,
and video MP3 players, and for killing Betamax
(Sony didn’t allow it’s tech to be exploited by
adult entertainment producers, therefore cutting
themselves off from the hugely lucrative porn
industry). We could arguably trace the dawn of
social media back to cybersex sessions in shady
chatrooms. Would YouTube technologies have
exploded quite so quickly had porn not got behind
the pioneering supportive technologies?
This week a new set of headphones from lovepals came into play.
Lovepalz have charged themselves with making
interactive sex more interactive, firstly with the
release of Zeus and Hera . A pair of sex toys
designed for long-distance lovemaking, each
contains an air pump which replicates the
movement and pressure applied by the other
partner to give users a “realistic representation of
intercourse.” I haven’t tried it out, so we’ll have
to trust them on that.
Lovepalz' latest release, the Ladobi, is a six-way
earphone set providing 360-surround sound,
optimised to accompany porn, steamy webcam
sessions, or even good old-fashion Skype phone
sex. The materials used in this particular “adult
video audio accessory” were specially selected so
that the high frequencies of speech ring out gin-
clear, whilst the intense bass feels heavy and
atmospheric (which would, I’m guessing, be great
for guttural diction or a thumping backbeat).
Lovepalz' innovations focus on engaging another
sense than just the visual in the consumption of
porn, constructing an immersive experience.

Oscar Pistorius murder trial

The trial of Oscar Pistorius resumed on Monday
after psychiatrists found that he did not have a
mental disorder or defect that would have
affected his behaviour on the night he shot his
girlfriend dead at his home in Pretoria.
The double amputee sports icon stands accused
of murdering Reeva Steenkamp on Valentines'
Day last year.
Last month, the South African prosecutor asked
for Pistorius to be sent for a mental evaluation
after a psychiatrist told the Olympic and
Paralympic track star's murder trial he had an
anxiety disorder.
Prosecutor Gerrie Nel argued he wanted to
prevent the 27-year-old sprinter, who faces life in
prison if convicted of murdering his girlfriend
Reeva Steenkamp, from later appealing on the
basis of a disturbed mental condition.
The court had heard how Pistorius has an anxiety
disorder brought on by an unstable childhood and
the "traumatic assault" of having his lower legs
amputated as a baby.
Mr Pistorius has been a day patient of Pretoria's
Weskoppies psychiatric hospital since May 26,
and has been assessed for seven hours a day.
Health experts were asked to determine whether
his mental health had an effect on him when he
killed Ms Steenkamp. The key findings of the
panel's report were that Oscar Pistorius knew
right from wrong at the time of the shooting and
did not suffer from any disorder of defect that
affected his ability to act accordingly:
The State alleges the track athlete deliberately
shot his girlfriend on Valentine's Day last year
after the couple had an argument.
Mr Pistorius insists he killed the 29-year-old law
graduate and model accidentally after mistaking
her for an intruder hiding behind a closed toilet
door.
During the trial, the Pistorius defence called
dozens of witnesses, including Johan Stander, the
first man to arrive at the crime scene after the
shooting.
He gave a heart-wrenching account of finding the
"broken" athlete coming down the stairs, holding
his dead girlfriend in his arms.
Prosecutor Gerrie Nel completed his cross-
examination of the paralympian on April 15 after
seven court days. Nel summed up by alleging
that Oscar Pistorius armed himself "with the sole
purpose of shooting and killing" his girlfriend
Reeva Steenkamp.
The athlete has been accused by Mr Nel of
"concocting" his evidence as he took to the
witness stand in his defence against murder
charges for Reeva Steenkamp's death on
Valentines' Day last year.
Prosecutor Nel's relentless questioning has drawn
tears and angry replies from the world-famous
double amputee sprinter, who insists he shot
Steenkamp four times by accident through a
locked bathroom door.
Jumping in a seemingly haphazard way from one
event or piece of evidence to another, Nel finished
his interrogation with the dramatic accusation
that Pistorius knew exactly what he was doing
when he fired the lethal shots.
Pistorius claims he fatally shot girlfriend Reeva
Steenkamp by mistake thinking she was an
intruder in his home. His testimony is crucial to
his defence against the murder charge because it
allows the judge to determine his credibility.
There is no trial by jury in South Africa so
Pistorius has the chance to convince Judge
Thokozile Masipa and her two assessors that he
did not intend to kill his girlfriend, and is not
guilty of murder.
Over the past four months, the prosecution has
laid out its case against the athlete, claiming he
killed Reeva after an argument.
The judge also heard from Colonel Schoombie
Van Rensburg, the first policeman to arrive at
Pistorius' home, who revealed forensic blunders
that could hamper the case.

Rise of the super rat

Humans have been using the same rat poisons
since the 1950s, and scientists are concerned
that the rodents have developed a mutation that
makes them immune.
Reports this year suggest that rats in the UK are
also becoming bigger, with a new strain of 'super
rat' expected to outnumber humans by next year.
Scientist Dr Dougie Clarke explained that female
rats are able to breed again immediately after
giving birth to their young, meaning that they
multiply extremely quickly.
Rats are responsible for spreading bacteria,
viruses and diseases as well as inflicting damage
on buildings.
